Tucson Man Killed In Crash In Washington State

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. Saturday near North Bend.

NORTH BEND, WA - Police have identified an elderly man killed in a crash long I-90 near North Bend Saturday morning. The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. near milepost 33. The man's pickup truck left the highway and crash-landed along the Snoqualmie Valley Trail underneath the highway.

Washington State Patrol identified the man as Nelson H. Herbert, 73, of Tucson, Ariz.

Nelson was driving his 2016 Dodge Ram truck eastbound when he made a lane change into the left lane. The truck continued onto the left shoulder, struck the guardrail, and careened down an embankment, coming to rest near the Snoqualmie Valley Trail.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police have pointed to speed, distraction, and a possible medical condition as causes.
