In Race To Replace Reichert, Republican Dino Rossi Has Cash Lead

Rossi is the only Republican in the race, but he has more than double the money of his next-closest Democrat challenger.

ISSAQUAH, WA - There's a crowd of candidates in the race to replace retiring Republican U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert, but only one of them is fundraising far ahead of the pack at this point.

Republican Dino Rossi has raised $1.3 million, according to federal campaign finance filings released Wednesday. Rossi is the only Republican in the race along with 12 Democrats. Only three Democrats have raised enough cash so far to compete against Rossi (other candidates, like Issaquah Councilman Tola Marts and Renton businesswoman Mona Das, have dropped out).

Issaquah's Dr. Kim Schrier is leading the Democrats with just under $600,000 raised. Former King County criminal prosecutor Jason Rittereiser is next, followed by Auburn's Dr. Shannon Hader.

Hader, a doctor who formerly worked at the Centers for Disease Control, joined the race in November and has had less time to raise money. Schrier and Rittereiser joined the race in August and July, respectively.

Election Day is still about 10 months away, but here's a look where the fundraising stands*:
