SAMMAMISH, WA -Dozens of people attended a rally against hate in Sammamish over the weekend, a response to the appearance of racist graffiti in the Klahanie neighborhood last week.

Sammamish police Chief Michelle Bennett told the crowd Sunday evening that police are working on the case and hope to make an arrest soon.

The Klahanie neighborhood was hit with graffiti two times last week. Neighbors awoke on Wednesday morning to find fences and garages tagged. Property owners cleaned that graffiti only to wake up Friday morning to more.

In the initial round of graffiti, police found the N-word and the word "puta," which is Spanish for "b----."

Neighbors have organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with cleanup and to buy car magnets to distribute in the community to show solidarity against hate. That fundraiser was very close to its $1,000 goal as of Monday morning.
