According to Issaquah's staff report, if approved, the initiative would reduce direct revenues to cities with transportation benefit districts; reduce revenue to numerous state transportation accounts; and reduce revenue to Sound Transit.
In November 2016, voters approved new motor vehicle taxes as part of ST3, which includes bringing light rail to Issaquah in 2041. If Initiative No. 976 is approved, there would need to be future decisions by the Sound Transit Board of Directors on whether to delay or cancel projects to absorb the financial impacts.
