Sammamish Football Note: A Quick Look at High School Squads for Sept. 16

This week, Skyline will be on the road, while Eastlake and Eastside Catholic will have home games.

What: Skyline vs. Lake Oswego

Where: Lake Oswego High School, Oregon

When: Friday at 7 pm.

Breakdown: The Spartans are coming off a 31-17 loss to Bellevue in their week two game. Skyline went into halftime tied with the Wolverines, but could not put up any points in the second half in the loss. Spartans quarterback Max Browne has thrown for just under 500 yards in two games so far this season, while seven different running backs have helped Skyline to an 85 yard per game rushing average. Lake Oswego is 2-0 on the season, having scored 84 points in two games. Steven Long rushed for four touchdowns last week for Lake Oswego.

What: Eastlake vs. Roosevelt

Where: Eastlake High School

When: Friday at 7 pm.

Breakdown: Eastlake has lived up to the lofty expectations surrounding it in the seasons first two games. The Wolves are 2-0 and have outscored their two opponents 77-28. Eastlake quarterback Keegan Kemp rushed for two touchdowns and threw for a pair last week against Snohomish in a 42-14 win. Roosevelt is 2-0 on the season, having allowed just 21 points combined in two games. Neither Eastlake or Roosevelt has faced particularly tough competition, so it should be interesting to see how close talent-wise the two teams actually are.

What: Eastside Catholic vs. Centennial (British Columbia)

Where: Eastside Catholic School

When: Friday at 7 pm.

Breakdown: Eastside Catholic fared well in its season opener, a 63-20 win over Cleveland, but came back down to earth last week in a 42-21 loss to Peninsula. The Crusaders are being led by running back Chevy Walker, who has tallied seven touchdowns in two games, including two via kickoff returns. Centennial is 0-1 on the season.
