Schrier Attacks Rossi Over Corporate Donations In New Ad

Both candidates get money from political action committees. See which ones are giving the most.

ISSAQUAH, WA - In a campaign ad released Thursday, Democratic Congressional candidate attacked Republican Dino Rossi over his accepting campaign money from corporation political action committees (PACs). Rossi has received thousands from corporate PACs, according to campaign finance records, but Schrier has too, although indirectly.

Schrier's ad, called "Myself," begins with a reminder that House Republicans voted to gut healthcare programs in May 2017. She then promises to "take on" insurance companies, and goes on to say she's refusing corporate PAC money.

The ad insinuates Rossi will vote with his donors. It hits local airwaves today.

Schrier and Rossi have battled via TV ad recently. Last week, Schrier's campaign sent cease-and-desist letters to local TV stations to stop a Republican-funded ad accusing Schrier of turning away Medicare patients.

"The Congressional Leadership Fund ad, titled “Refused,” falsely accuses Dr. Kim Schrier of personally refusing to provide medical care to economically disadvantaged children and “refusing most Medicaid patients,” despite the fact that Dr. Schrier does treat Medicaid patients and has never refused a patient because of their insurance or ability to pay," Schrier's campaign said in a statement.

Rossi has accepted thousands from corporate PACs from companies like UPS, Boeing, and Koch Industries. But he's received thousands more from interest groups and conservative political groups.

There are no direct corporate contributions to Schrier so far. But she has received money from political PACs that get money from corporations. For example, Schrier took $1,000 from Democrats United To Change and Hope. The PAC has received thousands from corporations like weapons maker Northrop Grumman, Deloitte (which also gave to Rossi), and Raytheon.

Another donor to Schrier, Article 1 PAC, took donations from companies like General Motors, Ford, UPS (which also gave to Rossi), and AT&T.

Here's a look at PAC dollars each candidate has received as of July.
