See Vile Artifacts Dredged From Lake Sammamish During Cleanup

SAMMAMISH, WA - The King County Sheriff's marine rescue unit made a truly awful discovery during a training dive off Sammamish on Thursday.

Divers unearthed a trove of disgusting trash under the water near Sammamish Landing Park. During an impromptu cleanup, the King County divers pulled dozens of discarded beer cans and bottles, weights, trashed cell phones, and at least one of those plastic salad boxes from Safeway from the lake.

Sammamish follows the King County law on dumping trash in waterways. It reads:

"The dumping, depositing, placing or leaving of any garbage, ashes, debris, gravel, earth, rock, stone or other material upon the banks, channels, beds or bars of any navigable water in King County, or the felling of any tree or trees, so that the same shall in whole or in part project within the high water bank of any navigable water‑course, or the casting, placing, depositing or leaving of any logs, roots, snags, stumps or brush upon the banks or in the bed or channel of any navigable water‑course is prohibited."
