Swedish/Issaquah Hospital Completes Phase II of Development
The Issaquah Highlands hospital is now open for a variety of inpatient services.
Swedish/Issaquah Hospital has completed Phase II of its construction process, bringing inpatient surgical facilities, intensive care units, labor and delivery facilities, postpartum rooms, pediatric and child life centers online, starting today.
The completion of Phase II opens up 80 beds for inpatient care and adds to the outpatient services Swedish/Issaquah has offered since opening last July.
Chuck Salmon, vice president of operations at Swedish/Issaquah, said that the hospital is still in its infancy and small in size relative to neighboring facilities but now offers services in line with other hospitals in the region.

“It’s very comparable,” Salmon said.
Salmon said that when patients avail themselves of the many services now offered at Swedish/Issaquah, they will benefit from being at a brand new facility with cutting edge medical technology.

“It’s the latest and greatest, if you will,” Salmon said.
The recently arrived is one example of the technology the doctors at Swedish/Issaquah have at their disposal.
“It’s a marvelous option for certain types of surgical procedures,” Salmon said.
Salmon is quick to point out that there’s much more to the hospital than robots and new technology, though.
“I think what’s going to differentiate us is the quality of service and the quality of our staff,” Salmon said.
Salmon said that Swedish/Issaquah Hospital was designed from the outset to streamline the healthcare process, to get patients the right care right when they need it, and to do so in a friendly, respectful manner.
“That’s what I think is going to make a difference for us,” Salmon said.
The approach seems to have resonated with patients, as Salmon said that the hospital has been performing 10,000 services a month since opening.
“That continues to grow every week,” Salmon said.
And the hospital is growing with it. Salmon said that the hospital recently finished a final wave of hires to bring employee numbers up in preparation for the completion of Phase II. In all, the hospital has hired over 600 employees in the last six months.
With everything ramped up, Salmon and the staff are eager to begin the next phase of healthcare at Swedish/Issaquah.
“We’re very excited about it,” Salmon.
