Symetra Employees Give Back in Issaquah
"We are proud to support our employees' volunteer spirit during Symetra Week of Service."—Symetra CEO Margaret Meister
Symetra set out to make a big impact in communities across its office footprint earlier this month as the national provider of employee benefits, annuities and life insurance celebrated the power of volunteerism during its 11th annual Symetra Week of Service.
From June 10–14, nearly 600 employees from the company's Bellevue headquarters took a break from their workday to give back at 34 nonprofit organizations around the Puget Sound.
Symetra Week of Service teams took on projects on behalf of several Issaquah orgs, helping to prep meals for Imagine Housing, sort and organize donations at Eastside Baby Corner, and sort donations and stock shelves at the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank.

“We are proud to support our employees’ volunteer spirit during Symetra Week of Service and throughout the year,” said Symetra CEO Margaret Meister, who helped clear blackberry shrubs along the CKC Trail in Kirkland with her project team. “As individuals, our employees are empowered to give back to the causes and organizations that matter to them personally through hands-on service opportunities like this. Every year, we all look forward to this powerful expression of Symetra’s ‘Swift to Serve’ core value as we come together on behalf of our communities.”
Symetra Week of Service began in 2009 with 130 Bellevue employees volunteering at seven Puget Sound-area projects. For 2019's Week of Service, 800 Symetra employees volunteered at 73 projects across the country on behalf of 54 nonprofit organizations. Since the program's inception, Symetra employees have contributed more than 18,000 Week of Service hours.
