ISSAQUAH, WA - An 18-year-old man nearly drowned at Lake Sammamish State Park on July 4, but was rescued and taken to the hospital fully conscious.
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Tibbet's Beach, one of the two main sanctioned swimming spots at the park. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to Eastside fire.
Authorities around the region have been reminding Puget Sound residents that fresh water is still very cold at this point. Cold water can shock even strong swimmers, putting them at risk for drowning.
