Vacancy On Issaquah Council After Ramos Wins Election

ISSAQUAH, WA - State representative-elect Bill Ramos will be leaving the Issaquah City Council effective Jan. 1 to work in Olympia. The city is inviting local residents to apply to be his replacement.

Here's more from the city of Issaquah:

• In order to be considered for the vacant council seat, qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old; a registered voter; and resident of the City of Issaquah for at least one year prior to the appointment.
• Complete our online application by 10 a.m. Jan. 8.

• Learn more about the role of a council member
• Talk with current or former council members
• Submit letters of reference or support
• Review public financial disclosure responsibilities

If you apply, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Provide a 10-minute verbal presentation to the City Council Jan. 14.
• Attend a meet-and-greet with council and community members Jan. 22.

The City Council expects to fill the vacancy Feb. 5, and if the appointee is present at the meeting, the oath of office may be conducted then.

The appointee to the vacant seat will serve until the November 2019 general election is certified.
