Washington Firefighters Return Home From California

Several crews were on their way back to Washington on Tuesday after spending a week fighting wildfires in California.

SEATTLE, WA — Several fire crews from the Seattle area are headed home Tuesday after spending a week in California, fighting the wildfires that have swept the state in recent weeks.

Firefighters from the Seattle Fire Department were on their way home by Monday evening after helping contain the Kincade Fire, which burned more than 77,000 acres and destroyed hundreds of homes in Northern California.

Meanwhile, Eastside Fire & Rescue, which also fought the Kincade blaze, was headed home to Issaquah as of Tuesday afternoon. Eastside helped mop hot spots and patrol neighborhoods that had burned in the fire, the department said in a statement.
