10th Measles Case Confirmed In King County
A woman in her 20s visited public locations ten times while contagious with measles in the last week, according to health officials.
SEATTLE, WA — A woman in her 20s with confirmed measles traveled to multiple locations in North Seattle and Kenmore over the last week, King County Public Health officials say.
The woman is the tenth person in King County to have confirmed measles, and likely contracted it from someone else who was infected, health officials say. Last week, an infant and a teenager in the Auburn area were confirmed to have measles.
"Measles cases continue to occur in King County, which means we face an ongoing risk of outbreaks among people who don't have immunity," King County Health Officer Jeff Duchin said in a statement. "Measles vaccine is safe, effective, and offers excellent protection. If you aren't sure if you're up to date with the recommended doses of measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine (MMR), see your health care provider and get a dose of MMR if needed."
