Up To 175,000 In Washington May Qualify For Disaster Assistance
State officials said families and individuals who do not qualify for other benefits may be eligible for expanded coronavirus relief.
OLYMPIA, WA — A new program could provide up to 175,000 Washington households with economic relief, according to the Department of Social and Health Services. The state activated the Disaster Cash Assitance Program on Friday, April 17, aiming to help Washingtonians who may not qualify for other benefits to meet their immediate needs.
Under the program, eligible people who expect minimal income during the month can apply for cash benefits, which are disbursed on an EBT card.
The one-time payment is based on household size, income and need, and provide a maximum of $363 for a single person. A household of eight or more could receive more than $1,000.

Applicants must complete a phone interview, which will include questions about expected income for the month, available resources and specific expenses. The money can be used to help pay for shelter costs, utilities, clothing, supplies and food.
The assistance is available to all qualified Washington residents, regardless of citizenship status, and does not require applicants to provide a Social Security number.
