80-Degree Days Next Week After A Cooler Weekend: Puget Sound Forecast

The weekend looks cooler and cloudier, but summer warmth won't be gone for long. Here's what to expect in the coming days.

SEATTLE — Puget Sound is in for a cooler weekend before temperatures climb back into the 80s for another warm and sunny stretch of summer weather.

The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport hit 78 degrees Friday, markings its ninth consecutive day with temperatures at or above 75 degrees, making for the longest such streak in nearly a year. For the first time since early February, Seattle has also gone more than a week without measurable rainfall.

Both streaks may come to an end this weekend, with a chance for some patchy drizzle Saturday morning and milder temperatures through Sunday. The National Weather Service expects Saturday will start off cloudy, becoming sunnier as the day goes on, with afternoon temperatures topping out in the low 70s. Sunday should be partly sunny, with a high near 70.

Fortunately for fans of the warmer weather, it won't be gone for long.

"Heights bounce back quickly on Monday as upper ridging rebuilds into the area," NWS Seattle wrote Friday. High temperatures will warm accordingly with near 70 along the coast and mid 70s to lower 80s for much of the interior lowlands under plentiful sunshine."

That trend should be the norm through next week, with clear skies in the forecast stretching through at least next Friday. Forecasters expect Seattle will hit 80 again by Tuesday and repeat the feat Wednesday.
