The paint won't come off (seattletimes.com) โ Drivers heading through downtown should know Ninth Avenue between Pike and Pine remains closed because paint from the Seattle Convention Center's summer night market still hasn't been removed. Until crews can strip the colorful street art, Seattle transportation officials say the block can't reopen, forcing some motorists to detour a few blocks to reach the I-5 express lanes entrance.

Council honors passing of community trailblazer Dolores Sibonga (seattle.gov) โ Seattle leaders are honoring the life of Dolores Sibonga, a Seattle CID native who became the first woman of color on the City Council and the first Filipino American admitted to the state bar. Council President Joy Hollingsworth praised Sibonga's decades of public service, activism, and mentorship, highlighting her role in advancing social justice and making Seattle more inclusive.

Record diesel prices in Washington state drive up costs from delivery trucks to grocery aisles (kgw.com) โ Seattle residents and businesses are getting hit hard as Washington's diesel prices surge to a record average of $7.36 per gallon, second only to California. A Seattle-based produce distributor is adding surcharges to cope, and local shoppers are feeling the squeeze as higher transportation costs ripple through grocery prices and everyday budgets.

Amtrak Debuts Siemens-Built Airo Trainsets on Amtrak Cascades Route (railway-usa.com) โ New Amtrak Airo trainsets are rolling out on the Cascades route, connecting Seattle with Vancouver, Portland, and Eugene on four daily round trips starting Sept. 30. Riders can expect more seats, big viewing windows, better accessibility, and updated interiors as older trains are phased out through early 2027, with Seattle benefiting from a more modern regional rail experience.
