WA minimum wage going up in 2027 for adults and teens (seattleschild.com) β Seattle workers will see the local minimum wage jump to $22.14 an hour on January 1, outpacing the new statewide baseline of $17.73. The increase applies fully inside city limits, including to 16- and 17-year-olds, while younger teens elsewhere can still be paid a reduced state rate. Families are urged to check specific city rules as they plan jobs and budgets.

Seattle Convention Center, Seattle police launch new downtown public safety hub (king5.com) β A new C-STAR public safety hub is opening in downtown Seattle, combining Seattle Convention Center staff, police resources, cameras, and workspaces to better coordinate daily safety and major incident responses. Leaders say it will serve as a visible command post and community space, while neighbors are watching to see whether expanded bike patrols and overnight presence will actually make the area feel safer.

Dancing with the Stars Tour coming to Seattle next year (kiro7.com) β Dancing with the Stars: Live is bringing its national tour to Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on March 22, 2027, giving local fans a chance to see the pros perform in person. Tickets, including presales and VIP upgrades, go on sale Oct. 13 through the tour's website, with a large cast of returning and troupe dancers promised.

5. 4 teens arrested in SeaTac, WA car theft sting (fox13seattle.com) β Four teenagers were arrested after a sting at SeaTac's Angle Lake Transit Station garage, where investigators say they repeatedly targeted Kia and Hyundai vehicles. One car stolen there was later used in an armed robbery in Seattle, though the main 18-year-old suspect denies involvement in that crime. She now faces felony vehicle-theft charges and an Oct. 12 arraignment in Kent.
