$10,000 Donation Awarded to Local Non-Profit, Mountains To Sound Greenway Trust

Community Support Helped Double Donation by Voting Online

Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance has officially awarded AAA Washington a 2026 Make More Happen™ Award for its long-standing partnership with the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and enhancing the Mountain to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area (Greenway NHA), a 1.5-million-acre landscape stretching from Seattle to Ellensburg.

Initially, AAA Washinton received a $5,000 donation through the Liberty Mutual® and Safeco Insurance® 2026 Make More Happen™ Awards program for its partnership with Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust. After the story was featured on the official Make More Happen microsite at agentgiving.com/aaa-insurance-agency-wa, the community rallied with over 750 votes and comments—triggering a matching donation and bringing the total to $10,000.

For more than two decades, AAA Washington has partnered with the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust to restore habitats, build and maintain sustainable trails, operate a robust volunteer program, and uplift this ecologically rich and historic corridor. “Our agency values align with the Greenway’s work to build healthy, inclusive communities,” said Josh Smith, Director of Sales of AAA Washington. “We’re proud to support conservation, trail access, and education that help neighbors connect to nature and to each other.”

AAA Washington’s advocacy, funding, and volunteer service have proven invaluable to the Greenway Trust. The organization donates thousands of dollars annually, and staff volunteers have planted more than 6,000 trees and removed invasive species since the partnership began. In 2025 alone, more than 40 employees contributed over 120 volunteer hours. This support contributed to the recently completed Issaquah Creek Restoration Project, the largest restoration project in both Greenway Trust and Lake Sammamish State Park history. The success of this effort builds on two decades of steady work along Issaquah Creek’s banks, with vital support coming from thousands of volunteers and numerous partners, including AAA Insurance Agency Washington.

Throughout 2026, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 36 independent agencies nationwide for a Make More Happen Award, donating up to $360,000 to nonprofits they support. Agencies become eligible for the award by submitting applications that highlight their commitment to a specific cause.
