Climate Protesters Block Streets In Downtown Seattle
A group of climate activists marched through downtown Seattle Wednesday morning, protesting investments by Chase Bank.
SEATTLE, WA — A climate demonstration blocked several roads through downtown Seattle Wednesday morning as activists protested fossil fuel funding by JP Morgan Chase & Co.
According to the Seattle Department of Transportation, the march blocked southbound lanes along 2nd Avenue and westbound lanes on Union Street.
The Seattle Times reports more than 100 people participated in the march on behalf of Climate Justice. Images posted on social media by 350 Seattle showed teepees set up in the streets and a banner reading "Road closed due to Chase's financing of climate disaster."

King County Metro and Sound Transit said buses had been rerouted off 2nd Avenue, and prolonged transit delays were expected in the area. The demonstration concluded shortly before 1 p.m.
