Cold & Sunny For The Last Full Week Of Fall: Puget Sound Forecast
The solstice is approaching, and a wintry chill will stay in the air this week as things take a sunnier turn.

SEATTLE — Cold and sunny days should be the norm for most of the week, thanks to a ridge of high pressure making itself at home across Western Washington. While things will feel plenty wintry — and freezing at night — rain and snow should be out of the picture through at least the weekend.
"Tuesday and Wednesday will be dry but cool as high pressure remains locked over the [Northeast Pacific]," NWS Seattle wrote Monday. "Morning lows will be chilly with temps dipping into the 20s to lower 30s. We'll also see low clouds and fog in the interior during the late night and morning hours. Highs will be around 40 both days."

According to the National Weather Service, Seattle has yet to log a day with normal highs since December began, and below-average temperatures are favored to continue on through the month.
Without too much action ahead this week, the absence of clouds should at least provide for excellent nighttime stargazing, coinciding nicely with the peak of the Geminid meteor showers and several visible planets.

With the potential for some clearer evenings coming up later in the week, it might be a good opportunity to do some planet gazing. #wawx pic.twitter.com/6BohVVC8oG

Those wishing for more snow may have to wait a while longer, but extended outlooks favor wetter weather making a comeback, while cold air remains intact, sometime between Christmas Eve and the first week of January.
