It was almost one year ago that another Seattle woman fought off a terrifying attack. Kelly Herron was using the bathroom at Golden Gardens Park in Ballard when a registered sex offender tried to assault her. Herron used her self-defense training to subdue the alleged attacker.

Similarly, Germond took self defense classes when she was younger at the behest of her father, a corrections officer. He told the Times. "She’s a warrior woman."
