Heavy Rain, Wind Gusts Return: Washington Weather Forecast
A strong weather system will move across the region Tuesday, bringing high winds and heavy rain for most.

SEATTLE, WA — Another blast of windy, rainy weather will sweep through Western Washington Tuesday, with peak gusts up to 50 mph in some areas, according to the latest forecasts.
NWS Seattle said the strongest winds are likely along the coast and areas north of Everett, and localized power outages and downed trees are possible.
Sustained winds across the region are forecast in the 20 - 30 mph range, with maximum gusts from 35 to 40 mph in Seattle and Everett and slightly higher in the Tacoma area. A wind advisory will be in effect from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The heaviest rains should pass by late Tuesday morning, with conditions turning more showery in the afternoon. There is a chance that some thunderstorms could materialize along the coast and near the Snohomish/King County convergence zone.
Forecasters expect rivers to rise across the region, but flooding is unlikely for most. The highest risk for flooding will be along the Skokomish River. Snow levels will fall to around 5,000 feet and could briefly dip lower around Stevens Pass.

According to NWS Seattle, strong northwesterly winds should create a rain shadow for much of central Puget Sound by Tuesday evening, confining further precipitation to the coast, mountains and convergence zone.
Some showers will linger Wednesday, along with some light snow at Stevens Pass, and dry weather should return by Thursday.
