Intro

Several free online home study digital networks will be discontinued. The free home study courses are primarily geared towards assisting U.S. private home decision makers towards making safer and wiser decisions about home improvement contractors. Aforementioned studies are being removed from service because the expenses entailed are greater than the volume of residential interest. Although HGRBS efforts in the realm of sharing free and useful information are being curtailed in this regard, this has no bearing on the level of commitment to private home heads in the country. HGRBS will continue to be accessible and willing to share useful information with residents. However, it is believed that residents are better served when energies are more focused in areas of service which are most conducive to that purpose.

To this effect, among other cuts taking place by or before September 1, 2018 are the following digital network home study constituents:

*Protocol & Performance (Website and related I.T.)

*Legal Leverage For the Home (Website-constituent and related I.T.)

*HOME SERVICE VALIDATION SYSTEM (Website and related I.T)

*Private Home Priorities – Washington (Website and related I.T.)

[Appropriate notifications have been forwarded to applicable residents about these changes. Internet techs are volunteers and willing to re-direct their energies as they have time to do so]

A Defeat-able Residential Vulnerability

Years ago, HGRBS learned that US private home heads are daily targeted and as often victimized by dishonest contractors. It was also found that one of the leading reasons for these misfortunes is that residents did not know enough to prevent them. However, another culprit to this residential “vulnerability” was uncovered: Some residents were under the opinion that they knew enough about themselves and about “dealing” with contractor to be safe from related improprieties. Further, it was found that “most” residents of reported cases of contractor fraud did not know as much as they presumed.

The evidence was and is always in the outcome. Yet, what was an even more astounding discovery is that a sizeable number of residents KNEW BETTER not to hire contractors without first “running a check” on them, but they did not follow through. These unfortunate residents are also in the majority of reported cases of private home heads who have been easily deceived by dishonest people working the neighborhood as home improvement contractors.

The bottom line: if these residents knew enough about preventing themselves from becoming victims of home improvement fraud, how is it that they did not keep it from happening? Further, if we are sufficiently aware of the “do’s ‘n’ don’ts” in the matter, how can we prevent ourselves from ignoring what we know, then summarily ending up in the same disadvantaged situation?

Design of the Home Studies

Foremost, HGRBS home studies take into considerations all the above factors. The design is to provide private home heads with informative tools and suggestions on how to use them to enormously increase probabilities for making safest-wisest decisions. The biggest challenge is for private home heads to conscientiously pursue learning as much as possible about our present epidemic of home maintenance and improvement fraud. Here is the reason the term “epidemic” is used:

*Once again, home improvement injustices by contractors are among the Top 10 Complaints of American consumers. Each year, typically in the month of July, the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) releases their report of the Top 10 Consumer Complaints in the US. It is usually from the previous year. The report was released this past July 30, 2018. And again “Home Improvement Fraud” is #2 on that list.

Nonetheless, it suffices to also mention that elements of home improvement fraud often include the following: Retail Sales(#3), Services(#6), Household Goods(#9), Home Solicitations(#10). Cumulatively (including #2) this constitutes HALF the list of the Top 10 Consumer Complaints. Interpretation thereof: 5 out of the TOP 10 Consumer Complaints are related to home improvement fraud. If credit card fraud is in there, we can up the ante to 6 out of 10! Epidemic.

What appears in the annual report of the Top 10 Consumer Complaints are issues affecting the largest number of people. It is not hunger, homelessness, or unemployment. https://consumerfed.org/press_release/nations-top-consumer-complaints/

Resume…

Evidently, home improvement fraud is a very big issue in the US. However, we are streamlining our studies because in spite of the enormity of these complaints, there is no comparable magnitude of private home heads as motivated taking advantage of HGRBS free residential studies. The size of the HGRBS digital network is too large and must be down-sized to a level where more time and effort can be devoted for those who benefit to do so even more, in less time. HGRBS home studies are primarily for residents who are self-empowered to learn as much as they can about making the best decisions for themselves, families, and homes. HGRBS is a free self-help format for US private home heads.

The Beat Goes On

“HGRBS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation/ministry of independent volunteers. Exclusive emphasis is on supporting your rights and privileges as an American private home head towards making better contractor-related decisions and getting better results from the people you hire to assist with your special home maintenance and improvement projects.” HGRBS Preamble

In spite of pending digital and related network cuts, there remain quite a bit of information from which self-motivated residents will benefit. HGRBS encourages private home heads to always make an effort to learn more about how to detect and be rid of dishonest contractors. Another significant point HGRBS is honored to share is that there is always something new and different to learn about how detrimental contractors are able to cajole residents into “clinching” the deal.

One free home study most recommended is HGRBS’ “4 Crucial Phases To Effective Contractor Screening.”

“4 Crucial Phases……” is comprised of a series of 5 PDF booklets residents can download and print or simply download and read. However, residents who opt to use iPhones or Tablets will require a PDF app. Normally, if they do not have one, they can connect with their wireless providers and have it installed. The lineup for the 4 Crucial Phases To Effective Contractor Screening:

*INTRODUCTION

*PHASE 1 – Mandatory Paperwork For Contractor Screening

*PHASE 2 – Learning Parameters For Returned Paperwork

*PHASE 3 – Necessity Of Delay Pending Full Research

*PHASE 4 – Making The Safest-Wisest Decision
