Dry, Cool Weather Should Arrive In Washington Wednesday

After a soaking start to the week, with downpours and hail for many, dry weather is on-tap for Western Washington by Wednesday.

SEATTLE, WA — Heavy rain, hail and isolated lightning rolled through Western Washington Monday ahead of clear skies and frigid temperatures expected later in the week. According to the latest National Weather Service forecasts, a convergence zone may still potentially allow for some snowflakes mixing with rainfall in the foothills and lowlands before Wednesday, but overall temperatures remained slightly too warm Monday.

NWS Seattle said another inch of snow was expected in the mountain passes before things begin to taper off Tuesday night. A Winter Weather Advisory remained in effect along the Interstate 90 corridor in Kittitas County until 10 p.m. Monday.

Forecasters said most areas have a chance of rain showers during the day Tuesday, with highs estimated in the 40s. A slight chance of rain and snow returns Tuesday night, with lows sinking to the upper 20s to mid-30s. Things should dry out by Wednesday — one of the busiest Thanksgiving travel days — but temperatures will continue to cool. A High Wind Watch goes into effect for San Juan, Whatcom, and western Skagit County Tuesday evening, with gusts possible up to 55 mph.
