National Epidemic

A couple years ago, the Consumer Federation Of America (CFA) released its report on the Top 10 Consumer Complaints in America. There are very few nationally-oriented consumer report agencies which produce stats relative to ratings of consumer complaints which originate with them.

*Although other agencies such as Forbes also reported on the Top 10, their stats apparently did not originate with them since consumer complaints are not their specialization. There are evidences that, as with other non-related entities, the stats have been adopted with
slight modifications from this CFA version.*

In that report, the CFA mentioned home improvement fraud and ancillary factors (retail sales, services, internet sales, and home solicitations), all of which factor into improprieties committed by contractors against private home heads. This means that home improvement fraud in America entails over 50% of the improprieties listed among the "Top 10 Consumer Complaints".

Consistency of CFA Top 10 Consumer Complaints Reporting

It may also be noteworthy mentioning the consistency at which home improvement fraud and factors relative to that appear in the CFA's "Top 10 Consumer Complaints" on an annual basis. Furthermore, special note can be taken of the fact that only those issues affecting the largest number of consumers appear in the Top 10 Complaint of the CFA. It is among the most reliable sources concerning socio-economic challenges of our citizenry rather than our business establishments. Additionally, although FTC stats on "Top 10 Consumer Complaints" are also reliable, they rarely consider official listing of "Services, Home Solicitations, and Home Improvement Fraud" as they regularly appear in CFA annual stats.

Normally, in July, CFA releases its "Top 10 Consumer Complaints" report for the previous year. It has not yet been released for 2019. However, when it is unveiled, we will note that the situation remains of epidemic proportion. Once again, Home Improvement Fraud will appear in the top 5 (or greater) of complaints from our private home decision makers.

Individual Preparation against Being a 2020 Statistic

In July 2020, the Consumer Federation of America will very likely release the "Top 10 Consumer Complaints of 2019". Again, Home Improvement Fraud will be in the Top 5 – or more. In that number will be private home heads who were under-informed, under-prepared, and under-strategized against it.

The fundamental purpose for HGRBS incorporating its new online study series: Homeowner's Guide USA, isto provide written guides private home heads of Seattle and beyond can confer with in order to avoid being a figment of next year's CFA statistics.
