Russell Wilson Strikes Out In Yankees Debut: Watch

His first at-bat in Pinstripes came in the fifth inning. He drove the count to 2-2 before striking out.

TAMPA, FL – Mighty Russell struck out. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson went to the plate for the first time in the pinstripes of the New York Yankees on Friday.

Wilson, who was acquired by the Yankees last month in a trade with the Rangers, had not played in a game since 2011 when he was a minor leaguer with the Colorado Rockies.

He's been spending the week working out with the team, saying he wanted to see what it was like working out with a team that has won 27 championships.

The Yankees, meanwhile, wanted to take a look at his skills on and off the field.

Wilson had a chance to show what he has in the top of the fifth inning when he pinch hit for Rookie of the Year right fielder Aaron Judge.

The first pitch that he saw was a high fastball, which he got a piece of and fouled back hard. He worked the count to two and two before missing on another fastball for the third strike.

He could be seen smiling in the dugout after the at-bat, being greeted by teammates.

It should be a good story when the Seahawks open camp later this year.

Pete Carroll. who coaches Wilson in the other sport he plays, has said he's known about Wilson's desire to face live major league pitching and has no problem with him being at Spring Training.
