Seattle Woman Shoots Ex-Boyfriend During Capitol Hill Attack: Police
The woman shot her ex-boyfriend as he charged at her holding a gun, Seattle police say.

SEATTLE, WA - A 19-year-old woman had to shoot her ex-boyfriend as he charged at her holding a gun in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood Monday morning, Seattle police say. The 32-year-old man was shot in the leg, but is expected to recover. However, Seattle police intend to arrest him on felony harassment charges as soon as he's discharged from the hospital.
The incident unfolded along Melrose Avenue around 11 a.m. Monday. The woman went to meet he ex to return his gun, police said. But, when she saw him on the street, he charged at her holding his own gun. She opened fire to stop the attack.
The shooting briefly closed streets in the vicinity of Denny Way and Melrose, which is located along the ledge of the I-5 corridor through downtown Seattle.

After police responded to the scene, the 19-year-old woman called 911 to report that she was the shooter, police said. She met officers at a nearby intersection and was questioned by detectives. Seattle police domestic violence unit detectives are handling the matter.
