Short Blast Of Heat Headed For Puget Sound: Weekend Forecast
After a milder week, another round of summer heat is due in Western Washington — and just in time for Seafair weekend. Here's what to know.

SEATTLE — The weather will start heating up again as the Seafair Weekend Festival returns, and the Seattle area could notch another 90-degree day or two before things cool off again. Unlike the recent record-setting heatwave, forecasters say the incoming warm-up should be a little less intense and shorter, too.
According to the National Weather Service, afternoon temperatures will begin to warm Saturday, cresting into the low 80s in Seattle before warming a few degrees more Sunday and Monday.
"An upper ridge will move over the area this weekend for continued warming," NWS Seattle wrote Friday. "By Sunday, highs will be in the 80s for much of the area with lower to mid 90s for parts of the interior south of Seattle and east of Puget Sound. Even the coast should be close to 80 on Sunday with weak low level offshore flow."

With eight days at or above 90 degrees this year, Seattle is already tied for the fourth most on record, and the next round of heat could bump 2022 up to third place. The current record belongs to 2015, at 12 days, followed by 2018, at 11 days. Seattle could hit 90 both Sunday and Monday, with the South Sound running even hotter.
Overnight temperatures should recover better than the last round of heat, falling into the 50s for most areas.

Here are the temperature probabilities for Sunday & Monday:
Forecasters said the ridge will start to break down Monday, allowing cooling to begin along the coast, but leaving the heat intact in the interior. Tuesday, with temperatures running closer to normal by Wednesday. Even as the "mini heat wave" ends, midweek highs will still be close to 80, and Wednesday may also bring a shot for a few rain showers.
