Snoqualmie Pass Logs One Of Its Snowiest Stretches On Record
Seasonal snowfall totals neared 250 inches at Snoqualmie Pass by Tuesday, marking one of the highest accumulations in recent history.

SNOQUALMIE PASS, WA — So far, Washington's second La Niña winter in a row is living up to the hype, with recent storms helping to bring Snoqualmie Pass more snowfall than it has seen in at least two decades. The Washington State Department of Transportation shared the milestone Monday afternoon, noting the pass was already well on its way toward a record-breaking year with January barely underway.
It *might be a record-breaking year. So far, I-90/Snoqualmie Pass has the highest snowfall in two decades as of today's date for the past 20 winters. Currently at 236 inches with more to come this season. pic.twitter.com/7lq6G6DnnT

According to WSDOT's official snowfall reports, Snoqualmie Pass added on another few inches by Tuesday, hitting a seasonal accumulation of 248 inches and a current snowpack of 87 inches. The road was closed in both directions for several hours Monday due to blowing snow, and chains were required for most vehicles through Tuesday.
Much more snow is on the way this week, with Snoqualmie and Stevens passes both forecast to pick up another three feet by Thursday morning.

This next storm system is going to be a doozy! Heavy winds tonight, 2 feet of snow Wednesday night, a warm up then freeze Thursday - all creating poor visibility, avalanche danger and major ice concerns. Delaying your trip for the next 72 hours would be a very good idea! pic.twitter.com/cLuIkCmsyt
