📰 News we're reading

• Silver Alert issued for missing woman last seen in North Seattle (fox13seattle.com) — Authorities have issued a Silver Alert for 78-year-old Beatrice Bowers, last seen Monday afternoon walking her small brown chihuahua near NW 85th St and 6th Ave NW in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood. Because she has advanced Alzheimer's and may be very confused, police urge anyone who spots her to call 911 immediately to help bring her home safely.

• No injuries in house fire in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood (fox13seattle.com) — Firefighters quickly knocked down a basement fire at a one-story home near Bellevue Ave E and E Republican St in Seattle's Capitol Hill, and everyone inside got out safely. Crews spent about 20 minutes chasing hot spots and checking the attic, and no injuries were reported, offering reassurance to nearby residents who saw the evening response.

• 'I shouldn't have to': Disabled veteran spends $3,000 on billboard calling out Seattle on crime, drugs (mynorthwest.com) — A longtime Aurora Avenue resident and disabled veteran has paid $3,000 a month for a pointed billboard blasting Seattle's handling of crime and drug issues, hoping to force city leaders to pay attention. His sign, inspired partly by a famous 1970s Seattle billboard, has already drawn nearly 100 calls and fresh debate on how responsive City Hall is to neighborhood concerns.
