Selah Community Days 2026 Kicks Off This Week (newstalkkit.com) — Selah Community Days 2026 kicks off this Thursday, May 14–17, filling Wixson Park and downtown Selah with a carnival, parade, and community gatherings. Look for the Young Life dinner and potato feed at the Selah Civic Center, plus one of Central Washington’s largest parades and a special salute to longtime local employer Tree Top as Grand Marshal. 
2. MultiCare and Regence fail to reach new contract agreement (yakimaherald.com) — Selah residents with Regence insurance can no longer use MultiCare Yakima Memorial and its clinics as in-network providers, but Selah Family Medicine remains an in-network option. Regence and MultiCare failed to reach a new contract, though some patients qualify for temporary continuity-of-care protections and discounted primary care visits while they transition to other Yakima County providers.
3. Selah Man Sentenced for String of Arson and Firearm Charges (keyw.com) — A 34-year-old Selah man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison and ordered to pay over $1 million in restitution for a string of arsons and a firearm offense. Investigators tied him to multiple wildfires and earlier arson convictions, underscoring the serious legal consequences and safety concerns for communities across Central Washington, including Selah.
4. OSU researcher incorporates socioeconomic factors with assessing wildfire risk and recovery (klcc.org) — Selah is singled out in new wildfire research as one of several Washington towns where risk jumps once social and economic vulnerability are factored in. The Oregon State University study could guide how limited state and federal mitigation dollars are distributed, potentially steering more prevention and recovery resources toward communities like Selah ahead of a volatile 2026 fire season.
5. Selah overcomes slow offensive start to beat Ellensburg for 8th time in 10 district title game meetings since 2010 (yakimaherald.com) — Selah High’s baseball team just claimed another Class 2A District 5 title, rallying past Ellensburg 11–6 in Ellensburg for their eighth championship win over the Bulldogs since 2010. A young Vikings squad exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning and will now await state tournament seeding, giving Selah fans plenty to cheer about heading into the postseason.
