West golfers recently posted season-low scores at Highland Golf Course in Cosmopolis. After topping Black Hills and Aberdeen, W.F. West will host Tumwater and Aberdeen next week, while Black Hills closes its regular season facing Centralia and Shelton at Riverside, giving local fans another chance to follow the Highclimbers.
   

• Climber dies in fall from highest peak in Cabinet Mountains (dailyinterlake.com) — A 24-year-old man from Shelton died Sunday after falling nearly 500 feet while descending Snowshoe Peak in Montana's Cabinet Mountains with a hiking group. Search and rescue crews and an air unit from Spokane worked through difficult, icy conditions to locate him the next day and recover his body, highlighting the risks local climbers can face in early-season mountain weather.
