The Spokane Housing Authority is administering a $500,000 state grant to cover housing-related costs from August through January, and city residents may also qualify for a separate, coordinated fund run by Goodwill.

2. Camp Sekani reopens following three-month closure Upriver fire closure (spokesman.com) — Camp Sekani's trails and disc golf course in Spokane are open again after a three-month closure caused by the Upriver Fire, though the main parking lot remains closed for expansion and new restrooms. City crews and volunteers have cleared hazards, but riders and disc golfers are urged to watch for falling debris, erosion changes, and limited parking while restoration and improvements continue.

3. Spokane Opens 210 Workforce Apartments in $53M Project (wrenews.com) — Downtown Spokane just added 210 new workforce apartments at Kōz on West 5th, all priced below 80% of area median income. The $53 million project, built on a former parking lot, uses state and local tax incentives to test whether converting underused parking into housing can expand affordable options for local workers in education, healthcare, and service jobs.

4. Riley Green Announces 2027 That's Just Me Tour (rttnews.com) — Riley Green will kick off his 2027 "That's Just Me" tour at Spokane's Numerica Veterans Arena on April 1, bringing a major country show and several guest artists to local fans. The 29-date tour spans the U.S., with each ticket also supporting local school programs and a charitable fund.

5. Washington lawmakers look to close 'gaps' in state arson laws (tri-cityherald.com) — State lawmakers are drafting tougher arson laws after this summer's Spokane fires destroyed hundreds of homes and displaced tens of thousands of residents. Spokane County's prosecutor and a Spokane senator are pushing for an aggravated arson statute and tax rebates for rebuilding, aiming to better reflect large-scale damage and support local homeowners recovering from the Spokane Complex fires.
