Spokane Symphony's Labor Day concert honors Susan Kennedy, supports fire recovery (kxly920.com) — Spokane residents can enjoy a free Labor Day concert at Comstock Park honoring longtime symphony supporter Susan Kennedy while helping fire-displaced families. The Spokane Symphony will perform popular classics and film music, collecting donations on-site and online to provide complimentary season tickets for those registered with the Spokane Region Long Term Recovery Group.
   

2. City facility closures planned in Spokane for Labor Day holiday (kxly920.com) — Spokane residents should plan for Monday's Labor Day closures, including City Hall, Waste to Energy, Municipal Court, and all Spokane Public Library and Spokane County Library branches. Garbage, recycling, and yard waste pickup will run one day late, while downtown parking meters will be free, and Riverfront Park attractions like the Looff Carrousel and Numerica Skyride will stay open all weekend.
   

3. Free garage sale to benefit Spokane wildfire victims (krem.com) — A free, community-wide garage sale across Spokane this weekend is helping residents displaced or directly affected by the Spokane Complex Fires get donated items they need. Neighbors register online to either give or claim goods, with no central venue or set hours, making it easier for fire-impacted families and local businesses to connect quickly and share resources.
   

4. Rockwood Retirement proposes Liberty Lake Campus (spokanejournal.com) — A Spokane-based senior living provider is planning a major new retirement campus in Liberty Lake's River District that would add hundreds of independent and assisted living units plus memory care, and create over 100 full-time jobs. Rockwood Retirement aims to start construction in 2028, with residents moving in by 2030, expanding its Spokane County footprint alongside its South Hill and Whitworth campuses.
   

5. Spokane couple moves into new home following losing their home in the Spokane fires (kxly920.com) — A Spokane couple who lost their home in the recent Spokane-area fires has already moved into a new house, thanks to years of disciplined saving and meticulous insurance documentation. Their experience highlights how strong financial habits, detailed records, and community support can speed recovery, even as Spokane's broader housing inventory has only slightly shifted since the fires.
