Spokane Airport welcomes Iron Goat Brewing and Jack and Dan's (929zzu.com) — Travelers flying in and out of Spokane can now enjoy local favorites Iron Goat Brewing and soon Jack and Dan's inside the airport, bringing downtown flavors right to the concourses. With exclusive beers, expanded menus, and more local eateries planned, the airport's expansion is turning into a showcase of Spokane's food scene for both residents and visitors.
   

2. Russell Wilson and Ciara's foundation gives $250,000 to Spokane families recovering from wildfires (krem.com) — Spokane-area families recovering from recent wildfires are getting a $250,000 boost from Russell Wilson and Ciara's Why Not You Foundation, funneled through The Salvation Army of Spokane. The money will support wildfire recovery plus year-round programs like foster care, food assistance, after-school activities, and holiday help for local children and families under financial strain.
   

3. Man arrested on arson charge after early-morning apartment fire in Spokane (krem.com) — An early-morning fire at the Grand Coulee Apartments in downtown Spokane displaced 11 residents and led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man on suspicion of first-degree arson. Two people were treated on scene, the Red Cross is helping those displaced, and officials are urging residents to keep doors closed during fires to slow smoke and flames.
   

4. Apple Festival series discusses how our state fruit made first made its way across the globe (spokesman.com) — Spokane Public Library's South Hill branch launches an Apple Festival this Saturday, exploring how apples came to Washington and offering hands-on demos like fruit leather making. With talks on local apple history, pests, preservation, and help from Spokane Edible Tree Project, residents can learn to better use the region's abundant backyard fruit and reduce food waste all month long.
   

5. Spokane family may wait years to return home after wildfire contamination (929zzu.com) — A Spokane-area family whose house survived recent wildfires still can't live there because ash, soot, and melted window seals have left the home contaminated and without running water. They're facing up to $120,000 in cleanup costs, limited insurance payouts, and mounting everyday expenses while renting elsewhere, as Spokane County officials report hundreds of homes destroyed and thousands damaged.
