• Women's Golf Announces 2026-27 Schedule - University of Washington Athletics (gohuskies.com) — University Place will host the Washington women's golf team's season-opening Leadership & Golf Invitational on Sept. 14-15, giving locals a chance to see the Huskies compete close to home. The schedule then sends the team to Colorado, Scotland, Hawaii, Mexico, California and Pennsylvania through spring 2027.
   

• Data centers banned in some of Pierce County for one year, council rules. Why? (thenewstribune.com) — Pierce County has imposed a one-year ban on new large data centers in unincorporated areas while officials study impacts on power, water, air quality and jobs—an issue that could affect infrastructure serving cities like University Place. Council members split over using an emergency ordinance, and a public hearing is set for Oct. 20 in Tacoma.
