WVC names Zawideh interim vice president (ncwbusiness.com) — Wenatchee Valley College has appointed Hanan Zawideh as interim vice president of Organizational Culture, Retention, and Engagement, a role she began Sept. 8 in Wenatchee. With extensive experience in human resources and equity-focused leadership, she’ll help guide campus culture, support faculty and staff, and advance the college’s mission that serves students across the Wenatchee Valley.
   

2. Wenatchee Community Concert Association celebrates 90th season with 6-concert lineup (tri-cityherald.com) — Wenatchee residents can look forward to the Community Concert Association’s 90th season, kicking off Sept. 20 at Wenatchee High School with The Lubben Brothers. The six-concert lineup runs through April, mixes national acts with performers who have Wenatchee ties, and offers season tickets that can also be used at partner concerts in Moses Lake and Everett.
   

3. Local food truck Mountain Berry Bowls was burglarized on Sunday (ncwlife.com) — Mountain Berry Bowls’ primary food truck at 12 N. Worthen St. in Wenatchee was burglarized Sunday, dealing a financial blow during an already tough season of smoke and slower spending. Owner Bryan Chud says the loss hurts, but the truck has received an outpouring of support from Wenatchee Valley customers responding on social media and in person.
   

4. Cashmere buys $10,000 ladder truck after repair estimate reaches six figures (ncw.news) — Cashmere is buying a surplus ladder truck from the Wenatchee Valley Fire Department for $10,000, avoiding hundreds of thousands of dollars in repair or replacement costs. The used 1997 truck will quickly go into service, helping maintain fire protection ratings for older downtown buildings and newer multi-story construction. Cashmere also plans to sell its corroded ladder truck to offset the purchase.
   

5. Sheriff: License plate readers could save lives, but abuse would cost deputy their job (ncwbusiness.com) — Chelan County’s sheriff told Cashmere councilmembers he would fire any deputy who misused automated license plate readers, even if it meant battling the union, while defending the technology’s value in cases like the Decker child killings where a Wenatchee camera first spotted the suspect leaving town. He acknowledged concerns about mass surveillance, criticized vendor Flock Safety’s transparency, and said lawmakers may tighten rules, but argued the system is vital for tracking suspects, stolen cars, and missing people across the vast county.
