New $1B Pratt & Whitney contract provides job security for Bridgeport facility (wvnews.com) — Pratt & Whitney’s Bridgeport facility has secured a nine-year, $1 billion contract to keep servicing PT6A-68 engines for the U.S. military’s T-6 training aircraft, helping protect about 500 local jobs. Airport and company leaders say the deal underscores the strength of Bridgeport’s aerospace workforce and moves North Central West Virginia Airport closer to its growth goals, including a new terminal opening in mid-August.
   

2. Vietnam Veterans Association considering relocation to Bridgeport (wboy.com) — Bridgeport is one of two finalists to become the new national headquarters for the Vietnam Veterans Association of America, a move that could bring at least 30 jobs and more veteran-focused services here. VVA leaders toured the city, heard pitches from state and local officials, and praised local VA healthcare options. A final decision between Bridgeport and Pittsburgh is expected in August.
   

3. West Virginia National Guard shifts from rescue operations to recovery (wdtv.com) — Flood-weary Bridgeport residents are seeing the West Virginia National Guard shift from urgent search-and-rescue work to longer-term cleanup and recovery after this week’s severe flooding. Troops are scaling back but will remain on the ground to help clear debris, support community cleanup, and provide engineering and logistical help as roads and neighborhoods continue to recover.
   

4. Antero Foundation donates $100,000 to United Way (wboy.com) — In Bridgeport, the Antero Foundation has donated $100,000 to the United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties, boosting the “United Light the Way” campaign that supports 17 local partner agencies. The gift, plus an extra $10,000 for recent flood relief, will help provide housing, food, and rehabilitation services across North Central West Virginia as United Way plans next year’s efforts.
   

5. Bridgeport Little League falls just a game short of title in loss to Shady Spring (wvnews.com subscription) — Bridgeport’s Little League all-stars came within a run of a state title Friday night in Barboursville, falling 7–6 to Shady Spring in a dramatic championship game. Despite the heartbreak, the boys’ strong hitting, deep tournament run, and tight-knit chemistry left coaches and families proud of what this Bridgeport team accomplished together this summer.
