1. Fairmont Farmers Market cuts ribbon to celebrate season opening (wdtv.com) — Fairmont’s longtime farmers market has reopened in a new Merchant Street location and will now run every Tuesday from 4–7 p.m. all summer. Backed by the Marion County Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Fairmont, the market features local produce, baked goods, and makers while supporting nearby small businesses.
   

2. Raising the roof, locking the doors: Infrastructure projects abound in Marion County schools this summer (dominionpost.com) — Major summer construction is coming to Marion County schools, including a $2.9 million roof replacement at East Fairmont High School and new secure entrances at several campuses. Superintendent Donna Heston says crews aim to finish the roof before classes resume August 26, while the board also celebrated East Fairmont and Fairmont Senior students for academic and athletic honors.
   

3. Over 100 Fairmont State Student-Athletes on Spring MEC Academic Teams (bvmsports.com) — Fairmont State University is celebrating 147 Falcon student-athletes earning spots on the Spring 2026 Mountain East Conference Academic All-Conference Team and Commissioner’s Honor Roll. More than 100 of those honorees are Fairmont State athletes, reflecting strong GPAs and a growing emphasis on balancing rigorous academics with competitive sports across the conference.
   

4. Clarence Howe Woodford II (wdtv.com) — Fairmont residents are mourning the passing of 85-year-old Clarence Howe Woodford II, a longtime community member and electrical engineer who died May 31 surrounded by family. Loved ones can pay their respects at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home on Merchant Street this Friday evening and Saturday morning, with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in West Milford.
