2. 2026 Run 2 Read race to benefit Literacy Volunteers of Marion County (wvnews.com) — Fairmont runners and walkers can sign up now for the July 24 Run 2 Read race, which loops through the city’s west side neighborhoods and finishes with a pool party at 12th Street Pool. Proceeds support Literacy Volunteers of Marion County, backing adult and youth reading programs that organizers say strengthen the community’s economy, safety, and quality of life.

Fairmont State University Nursing Department hosts community outreach event (wboy.com) — Fairmont residents received free clothes, food, and basic necessities during a community outreach event hosted by Fairmont State University’s Nursing Department on Wednesday. Nursing students shared research and hands-on care, aiming to better understand and meet local health and wellness needs while strengthening connections with the Fairmont community.

Band submissions now open for Rock the Roost 2027 music festival at Fairmont State University (mybuckhannon.com) — Fairmont State University is opening band submissions for its Rock the Roost 2027 music festival, set for June 12, 2027, on the Fairmont campus. West Virginia-based bands performing original music can apply through October 30, 2026, for a chance to compete for cash prizes and help build a new annual creative tradition in North Central West Virginia.
