• Circuit Court Orders David Tabb To Be Removed From County Commission Ballot (observerwv.com subscription) — Voters in the Harpers Ferry Magisterial District will not see David Tabb’s name on the November 3 county commission ballot after a judge ruled he does not legally reside in the district. The court ordered Jefferson County’s Ballot Commission to remove him, and a quick appeal and request to pause that decision were denied to avoid delaying absentee voting preparations. 
• New Mexico hiker tackles Appalachian Trail flip-flop through West Virginia (abqjournal.com subscription) — Harpers Ferry features prominently as a key access point and starting hub for Appalachian Trail “flip-flop” hikes, with easy train connections from D.C. and BWI. A New Mexico hiker describes meeting a friend in town, then heading south through Virginia’s “Roller Coaster,” hostels, B&Bs, and Shenandoah, reflecting on solitude, safety, and why many thru-hikers now begin or pass through Harpers Ferry.
