1. Car show to be part of Weirton's Independence Day festivities (weirtondailytimes.com) — Weirton is planning a full slate of July 4 festivities, including the annual parade, live music, games, and a brand-new ā€œFreedom Fueled by Revolutionā€ car show on Main Street. Events will run through the evening at Municipal Plaza, Edwin J. Bowman Field, and the Weirton Event Center, wrapping up with a fireworks display around 10 p.m.

No tax increases: Weirton city council passes 2026-27 levy rates during special meeting (wtrf.com) — Weirton homeowners and business owners can expect no property tax hike next year, as city council kept the 2026–27 levy rates unchanged during a special meeting. Officials say the levy share going to the city feeds the general fund, and they aim to balance low rates with responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

John William Yaussy (leesburg-news.com) — Family and friends in Weirton are mourning alongside loved ones in West Virginia and Florida after the passing of 84-year-old John William Yaussy, formerly of Wellsburg. A U.S. Army veteran and longtime water treatment professional, he is survived by many, including granddaughter Lacey Van Fossan and her family in Weirton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

Alpha Tau installs officers (weirtondailytimes.com) — Local women educators from the Alpha Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa recently gathered at DeeJay’s in Weirton to install new officers and welcome two new members. The group reviewed scholarship applications, planned for their state convention trip, and set a covered-dish buffet for their May meeting, continuing their focus on supporting education and fellowship in the community.
