1. Chamber Clocks In On School Start Time Debate (theintelligencer.net) — The Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce is surveying local employers on how proposed later start and end times for Ohio County Schools could affect staffing, hours, and working families. Survey results will go to the Ohio County Board of Education before key June meetings, where members will weigh schedule changes that could reshape daily routines for Wheeling-area parents and businesses.

2. Wheeling forms homelessness task force 6 months after encampment shutdown (wtov9.com) — Wheeling officials have created a new homelessness task force about six months after shutting down a local encampment, promising ongoing updates and tougher enforcement. The city plans more policing, surveillance cameras downtown and along the waterfront, expanded sanitation, and a push for additional state and federal support for addiction and mental health services.

3. Local county workers voice concerns over proposed policy changes (wtrf.com) — County employees in Wheeling packed the Ohio County Commission chambers to question a draft employee handbook that could change paid time off, sick leave, and stipends. Commissioners stressed no final decisions have been made and scheduled a June 15 meeting with department heads to keep negotiating ways to control costs without cutting key benefits.

4. Wheeling City Council passes policy for Heritage Port flag poles (wtrf.com) — Wheeling City Council has voted 3–2 to limit Heritage Port’s three flag poles to only the U.S., West Virginia, and city flags, after a request to fly the LGBTQ+ Pride flag. The decision, made with two council members absent, still allows groups like The Friendlier City Project to display their flags on stage and around the grounds during events.

5. Wheeling Farmers' Market Presents Scholarships (theintelligencer.net) — Wheeling residents can catch the weekly Farmers’ Market on Saturdays at 1225 National Road, where organizers are also supporting local teens with $500 scholarships. This year, graduates April Lockard and Adeline Schimnoski earned awards for their involvement in FFA or 4H and essays on how farmers markets shaped their lives, as they head to WVNCC for business and nursing.
