• New Day Care Space Dedicated at North Wheeling Dream Center (theintelligencer.net) — A newly renovated daycare space at the North Wheeling Community Dream Center is now fully built out and waiting for an operator, aiming to fill a major childcare gap for Wheeling families. Local church leaders, city officials, and businesses teamed up to restore the historic Main Street building after severe water damage, turning it into a safe, modern space focused on serving neighborhood children and families.
• FEMA Funds Eyed for Repairs to Recreation Facilities (theintelligencer.net) — Wheeling officials are moving ahead with FEMA-funded repairs to the I-470 baseball field and Greggsville Playground, both damaged in last year's flash flooding. Bids are out now, with work expected this fall and completion by December, while additional flood-related fixes, including a Parkview road slip and sewer line project, are also nearing approval.
• Emanuele Lugo's Strong Debut Earns MEC Men's Swimmer of the Week Honors (wucardinals.com) — Wheeling University freshman swimmer Emanuele Lugo has been named Mountain East Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week after a standout debut at the Salem Relay Invitational. His strong relay performances helped the Cardinals dominate their conference rivals and set an encouraging tone for the rest of the season in Wheeling's growing athletics program.
