Kwik Trip Is Getting Rid Of A Convenience Store Staple

LA CROSSE, WI — Kwik Trip is pulling roller grills out of every one of its more than 900 stores by Sept. 21, part of a broader industry shift toward rethinking how convenience chains use their in-store space to drive sales.

The company's vice president of food service, Paul Servais, told trade publication C Store Dive that the items themselves are not being cut.

Hot dogs, Tornados and other roller grill staples will simply move into the stores' hot grab-and-go cases instead, a change Kwik Trip said follows internal research showing customers would rather grab their food and go than pick it directly off the rollers, WMTV reported.

What isn't yet clear is what replaces the roller grills themselves. Kwik Trip has not said what will take over that physical space inside its stores.
