Lettuce, Salad Kits Sold In WI Recalled Over Listeria Risks

Fourteen different products were recalled over Listeria concerns. Listeria can cause serious, sometimes fatal infections, the FDA said.

WISCONSIN — Lettuce and salad kits sold in Wisconsin and elsewhere in the Midwest have been recalled due to concerns of listeria contamination.

Michigan-based Revolution Farms is voluntarily recalling 14 different products packed between March 3 and March 11 because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

No illnesses have been reported as of Thursday. However, the Michigan Department of Agriculture detected Listeria in a random sample test of a single package of Revolution Farms Green Sweet Crisp.

Listeria can cause serious, sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and immunocompromised populations. Symptoms include a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

A Listeria infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

People with these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.
