PRICE COUNTY, WI — A couple from the Twin Cities area was killed by a falling tree while sitting at a picnic table during a camping trip in Wisconsin, according to police.

The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at a campsite along the north fork of the Flambeau River, according to the Price County Sheriff’s Office. Sandy Michael Langseth II and April M. Sheldahl, both of White Bear Township, Minnesota, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said, noting a third person who had been seated at the picnic table when the tree fell was not hurt.

Two anglers who had been fishing in the river nearby assisted the campers until emergency personnel arrived, according to police, who said the anglers reported the wind picked up about 10 minutes before the tree fell.
