St. Mary Cemetery tornado recovery relies on donations as community fundraisers pitch in (wbay.com) — St. Mary Parish Cemetery in Appleton is still cleaning up major tornado damage, with uninsured tree and ground work expected to cost around $100,000. The cemetery is asking for donations online, while the Appleton-based Mile of Music festival has already raised thousands through tornado relief T-shirt sales to support the broader community response.

Plane pull event at the Appleton International Airport raises over $100,000 (wearegreenbay.com) — Appleton International Airport just hosted the 8th annual plane pull, where teams tugged a plane 12 feet to raise money for veterans' Honor Flights to Washington, D.C. 'Rebuild Rumble' brings local wrestlers to the ring for storm recovery effort (wearegreenbay.com) — Appleton's American Legion Post 38 will host the Rebuild Rumble on Saturday, Aug. 29, bringing five Wisconsin wrestling promotions together to support tornado recovery. For $10 general admission, families can enjoy an evening of matches while contributing profits, supplies, and donations to the Fox Cares Foundation's Tornado Relief Support initiative.
4. Wolf and Fox rivers host the final test of the 2026 Kayak Series season (bassmaster.com) — Competitive kayak anglers will converge on Appleton as the Newport Bassmaster Kayak Series holds its regular-season finale on the Wolf and Fox Rivers Aug. 22–23. Launching from public access points around Appleton-area lakes and rivers, participants will chase both largemouth and smallmouth bass while vying for Angler of the Year points and championship berths.
5. Downtown Appleton will 'Light the Night' on Aug. 28 (wbay.com) — Downtown Appleton will come alive on Friday, Aug. 28, when Appleton Downtown, Inc. turns the area into a free open-air Light the Night Market from 5 to 10 p.m. Expect performances at Houdini Plaza, local vendors, food trucks, cultural acts, and hands-on activities designed to showcase and celebrate Appleton's downtown.
