STATE OF WISCONSIN-Publication Summons and Notice (tacomadailyindex.com) — If you have ties to this small claims case, note that it's scheduled for Sept. 28 at 9 a.m. at the Outagamie County Courthouse on South Walnut Street in Appleton. The notice explains that missing the Appleton hearing could result in a judgment, and outlines options for answering in writing through the clerk of court.
   

2. Appleton taverns now can welcome dogs inside, with city approval (postcrescent.com) — Appleton has approved a new policy allowing dogs inside taverns that don't serve food, as long as owners apply through the city Health Department. Local bar operators, including Ope! North on College Avenue, can now seek permission to welcome leashed dogs, potentially creating more dog-friendly hangouts for residents who want to socialize with their pets after work.
   

3. Building for Kids museum to open Launchpad Playful Preschool this fall (wtaq.com) — Families in Appleton will soon have a new preschool option as the Building for Kids Children's Museum opens Launchpad Playful Preschool downtown on Oct. 5. Serving ages 3 to 5, the program emphasizes play-based, child-directed learning and is located inside First 5 Fox Valley's Family Resource Center, with easy access to the museum's hands-on exhibits.
   

4. Tesla floats in flooded streets (cnn.com) — Among a series of dramatic weather clips, one short segment focuses on an EF2 tornado that damaged parts of Appleton and neighboring Menasha and Neenah, toppling trees and power lines around a driver. While the broader piece surveys extreme weather worldwide, Appleton residents see their own community's recent storm impacts briefly highlighted alongside national coverage.
   

5. Safe Care Summit designed to improve domestic violence treatment (ibmadison.com) — Healthcare workers and first responders in Appleton can get free, full-day training on responding to domestic violence at the Wisconsin Safe Care Summit on Oct. 22 at the Hilton Appleton Paper Valley Hotel. Attendance is capped at 150 and offers continuing education credits, giving local professionals a rare chance to sharpen skills and strengthen the community's response to abuse.
