Fox Valley brewers release special beer to support tornado recovery (postcrescent.com) — Appleton-area breweries have teamed up to release Fox Valley Strong, a new pale ale raising money for United Way Fox Cities' tornado recovery fund after July's severe storm damage. Ingredients were donated by local suppliers to maximize proceeds, and participating taprooms in Appleton and Green Bay are rolling out the beer over the next few days.
   

2. Turnovers plague Fond du Lac in one-score loss to Appleton North (thenorthwestern.com) — Appleton North edged Fond du Lac 14-13 in a defensive battle, extending its recent dominance despite being held to just 100 yards of offense. The Cardinals' turnovers and a blocked late extra point proved costly, and Fond du Lac now turns its focus to hosting Appleton East on Sept. 18 in hopes of bouncing back.

And there's more on the way (cnn.com) — CNN highlights that the United States just endured its hottest summer on record, then links that broader warming trend to a series of extreme-weather clips, including an EF2 tornado that damaged homes and infrastructure around Appleton, Menasha, and Neenah. The package connects national climate patterns with very real local storm impacts in the Fox Valley.
   

4. Soo Line Historical and Technical Society visits (dailypress.net) — A railroad history group whose headquarters are now based in Appleton is holding its annual convention this weekend at Island Resort and Casino in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. While most activities are across the border, Appleton railfans connected to the Soo Line's legacy can join tours of historic depots, mining sites, and photo sessions celebrating regional rail history.
   

5. The secret behind Bolivia's breathtaking 'natural mirror' (cnn.com) — A collection of short CNN weather and science videos includes dramatic footage from the Appleton area, where an EF2 tornado recently toppled trees and power lines and damaged homes in Appleton, Menasha, and Neenah.
