Jacob Veliz Munoz Dies After Dodge Pickup Crash in Beloit (accidentinjurynews.com) — A 22-year-old Beloit resident has died after a speeding pickup crashed into a cemetery on Woodward Avenue, and police have arrested the alleged driver on a homicide charge. Officers say the driver fled on foot, leaving the passenger trapped, and Beloit police are still investigating the hit-and-run that damaged multiple headstones. 
2. Town of Beloit man arrested after stand-off (gazettextra.com) — Streets in the Town of Beloit were blocked Tuesday morning as local police, City of Beloit officers, and Rock County SWAT handled a stand-off at a South Royce Avenue home. A 53-year-old man was taken into custody after alleged threats inside the house, and police say the situation was safely resolved by early afternoon.
3. Beloit School District's budget deficit grows, staff reductions loom (mystateline.com) — Beloit’s public schools are staring down a $5.7 million budget deficit, and 38 positions are on the chopping block as leaders scramble to balance the books. Interim Superintendent Wayne Andersen and the teachers union warn that cuts could mean larger classes, fewer course offerings, and reduced student services. A November referendum and enrollment shifts to the new Lincoln Academy may further shape what Beloit schools can provide.
4. Man charged with attempted homicide, accused of intentionally hitting woman with car at Beloit gas station (wkow.com) — A woman was seriously injured after prosecutors say a Beloit man used his car to pin her against a pole at a Shopiere Road gas station, leading to multiple felony charges. Surveillance images and witness accounts describe her being lifted onto the hood and smashed into the pole.
